How to Cancel Google Marketing Platform
To cancel a Google Ads account, which is a part of the Google Marketing Platform, follow these steps:
Signing In
- Go to the Google Ads homepage and sign in using your login credentials. Ensure you are signing into the correct account if you have multiple Google Ads accounts associated with your email address.
Navigating to Account Settings
- Once logged in, click on the Tools and Settings icon in the upper right corner of the page. This will open a menu where you will see the option for ‘Preferences’.
- Under ‘Preferences’, locate and click on ‘Account Status’.
The Cancellation Process
- In the ‘Account Status’ section, you will see an option for ‘Cancel my account’. Click on it.
- You will be asked to confirm your decision and to understand the consequences of canceling your account. Read through the information provided, and if you still want to proceed, click on ‘Cancel my account’.
Confirming Cancellation
- Google will display a confirmation message asking you to verify your decision. If you are certain about canceling, click ‘Cancel Account’ once more to finalize the process.
Post-Cancellation
- After you cancel your Google Ads account, all your active ads will stop running within 24 hours, and you won’t be able to create new campaigns.
- You will still be responsible for paying any accrued costs up until the point of cancellation.
- Any remaining money in your account will be refunded to your original payment method within 4-12 weeks.
- Although your account will be in a “cancelled” state, you can still log in to access all the data in your Google Ads account. You can also reactivate your account whenever you want to start advertising again.
Important Considerations
- If you encounter any errors during the cancellation process, reach out to Google Ads support for assistance.
- If you are canceling a manager account, this action will also cancel all associated Google Ads accounts.
