How to Cancel Amazon CloudFront (2026)

How to cancel Amazon CloudFront

To fully cancel an Amazon CloudFront product, you need to delete the distribution. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console: Open the CloudFront console.

  2. Select the Distribution: In the CloudFront Distributions section, find the distribution you want to delete and select the checkbox next to it.

  3. Disable the Distribution: Click on Disable and confirm by choosing Yes, Disable. This will change the status to Disabled.

  4. Wait for Propagation: Wait until the Last modified column updates with a new timestamp. This indicates that CloudFront has propagated the changes to all edge locations.

  5. Delete the Distribution: Once the distribution is disabled and the changes have propagated, select the distribution again and choose Delete. Confirm by selecting Delete again.

  6. Verify Deletion: Ensure that the distribution is no longer listed in the CloudFront console.

If your distribution is associated with a Web Access Control List (WebACL), you will need to remove this association before disabling the distribution. To do this, edit the distribution settings, set the WebACL to None, and save the changes before proceeding with the disable and delete steps.

Additionally, if you have other resources associated with your CloudFront distribution, such as an S3 bucket or IAM roles, you may want to consider deleting or updating these resources as well to avoid unnecessary charges.
