How to Cancel Qonto

To cancel a Qonto account, follow these steps:

  1. Notification: You will receive an email notification from Qonto stating that your account is being closed. This email will provide necessary details about the closure process.

  2. Notice Period: The notice period typically ranges from 30 to 90 days, depending on the reason for closure. For business payment accounts, a minimum of 30 days is required by law.

  3. Settle Your Account:

    • Ensure your account balance is brought to zero before the end of the notice period.
    • Transfer any remaining funds using the Qonto app.
  4. Retrieve Important Information:

    • Export your transaction history and receipts for accounting purposes.
    • Download any Qonto invoices from the billing section of your account.
  5. Update Your Partners:

    • Inform your business partners about the change in your account details.
    • Share your new IBAN with clients and organizations that make direct debits from your account.
  6. Post-Closure:

    • If your balance is positive after the notice period, your account will be locked, and fees will continue to be charged.
    • You will need to provide proof of a recipient account to Qonto’s customer support for the withdrawal of your remaining balance.
  7. Opening a New Account:

    • Consider opening a new professional account with another institution if needed.
