How to Cancel Mercury

To cancel your Mercury account or subscription, follow the steps below based on the type of cancellation you want to perform:

  • Canceling a Subscription:
    • Log in to your Mercury account and navigate to Cards > Card Subscriptions.
    • Find the recurring payment subscription you want to cancel from the list. You can filter by card, merchant, or subscription status.
    • Select the subscription to see details and choose between two cancellation options:
      • Manage subscription on merchant website – This redirects you to the merchant’s site to cancel or modify the subscription directly.
      • Cancel Subscription – This stops future payments on your Mercury card for that merchant by blocking payments or freezing the card if it is locked to that merchant.
    • Note that “Cancel Subscription” only blocks payments; it does not notify the merchant or guarantee cancellation under the merchant’s policies. You may still owe payments or need to contact the merchant directly for full cancellation. Mercury can assist disputing incorrect charges.
    • Subscriptions marked canceled will remain viewable on your dashboard for records.
  • Closing Your Mercury Account:
    • Make sure these conditions are met:
      • You are a beneficial owner on the account.
      • There are no pending transactions.
      • Your account balance is $0.00 across checking, savings, and other accounts.
    • Log in to your Mercury account on the web (not available through the mobile app).
    • Go to Settings > Company Profile and scroll to the bottom to find Close Account.
    • Click Start Request, follow the prompts to review information, provide a reason for closing and any feedback.
    • Submit your request by clicking Request to Close.
    • Mercury will review your request within 2 business days and email you confirmation once the account is closed.
    • Before closing, download any important account statements as they will remain accessible even after closure but it’s best to keep copies.
    • Migrate recurring transactions to other financial institutions to avoid interruptions with vendors.
  • Canceling Mercury Insurance Policies (if applicable):
    • Contact your Mercury insurance agent directly using the contact information on your policy documents.
    • Request a cancellation form, sign it, and submit it back to the agent.
    • If unable to reach your agent, email [email protected] with your name, policy number, and cancellation request details.
    • Be aware there may be a cancellation fee ($10 in California, $50 in other states) unless you cancel at the policy renewal time.
    • Plan to cancel close to the renewal date to avoid coverage lapses or additional fees.

Following these steps will help ensure your Mercury subscriptions, accounts, or insurance policies are properly canceled according to Mercury’s procedures.
