How to Cancel Mapbox

To cancel your Mapbox account, follow these steps:

Logging In and Navigating to Account Settings

Log into your Mapbox account and navigate to the Account settings page.

Deleting the Account

  • Scroll to the bottom of the Account settings page.
  • Click the "Delete account" button.
  • A modal will appear requiring additional confirmation that you intend to fully delete the account.

Important Considerations

  • Deleting your account is a permanent action that cannot be undone. Mapbox will not be able to recover your account, and the same account ID (username) cannot be re-used to create another account.
  • Upon deletion, all styles, projects, and data associated with the account will no longer be available.
  • The account cannot be logged into after deletion.
  • Access tokens tied to that account will be immediately terminated, and map implementations using them will no longer be able to access Mapbox services.

Pre-Deletion Steps

Before deleting your account, it is advisable to:

  • Transfer any necessary map styles and data to a new account if you plan to continue using Mapbox services.
  • Update your web and mobile applications to reference the new account’s tokens and styles.
  • Back up any data you use with the Services, as you will not have access to it after account deletion.

Additional Actions

If you are using SAML Single Sign-On (SSO), ensure that you have transitioned all users to SSO before deleting the account. Here are some steps to consider:

  • Announce to your organization that SAML SSO will be the primary mechanism for Mapbox access.
  • Ensure all users test their access with SAML SSO before the transition date.
  • On the transition date, toggle the "Activate single sign on" button on the account’s Security Settings page to immediately terminate all active sessions.
  • Change the password for the account to make the previous password invalid, which will also terminate all active sessions.

Post-Deletion

After deleting your account, you will need to:

  • Delete the Dash App from your device if applicable, though this does not close your Mapbox or Dash accounts. For Dash App account termination, contact Mapbox support at [email protected].
  • Destroy any materials or content received from the Service as per the Terms of Service.
