How to Cancel Givebutter

To issue a full refund for a transaction on Givebutter, follow these steps:

Checking Available Funds

Ensure that the relevant campaign has enough funds to issue the refund. You can do this by heading to the Payouts page and verifying the campaign balance. Refunds must come from the same campaign that the transaction was donated to.

Locating the Transaction

Go to the Transactions page in your dashboard. Use the search bar or add filters to locate the transaction you want to refund. Click in the white space next to the donor’s name to select the transaction, and a sidebar menu will appear on the right side of the screen.

Initiating the Refund

Click the three dots button on the right in the sidebar menu and choose Refund. Select a reason for the refund from the available options (e.g., Duplicate Charge, Fraud).

Confirming the Refund

Click the Refund button. You will be prompted to confirm the action. Once completed, a confirmation email will be sent to the donor, and the transaction’s status will change to Refunded.

Important Considerations

  • Refunds will be removed from your available balance immediately and appear in the donor’s account in 5-10 business days.
  • Funds are sent to the same account originally used to make the payment.
  • If the transaction was originally submitted via PayPal and it’s been more than six months, a refund cannot be issued due to PayPal’s policies.
  • If there are not enough funds in the campaign balance, or if the funds have already been withdrawn by the campaign administrator, you cannot issue a refund through Givebutter and must handle it manually.

Additional Notes

  • Partial refunds are currently not possible due to technical limitations.
  • If you encounter any issues or need further assistance, contact Givebutter’s customer support.
