How to Cancel Chime

To fully cancel your Chime account, follow these steps carefully to ensure your account is properly closed and no pending transactions remain:

  • Unlink any bank accounts or external accounts connected to your Chime account. This includes any automatic payments, subscriptions, or direct debits linked to Chime that could cause complications during closure.
  • Check your Chime account balance and make sure it is zero with no pending transactions. Allow a few days for recent payments or deposits to fully process before proceeding with cancellation.
  • If you have a Chime Credit Builder account or other linked services, note that closing your account might require contacting customer support directly.
  • Open the Chime mobile app and log in with your credentials. Tap the menu icon and go to the Profile section, then Personal Info. Look for the option to “Close Account” or “Delete Account” and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm closure.
  • If no such option appears in the app (common if you have a linked Credit Builder account), email Chime Support at support@chime.com requesting account closure. Include your full name and account number for verification.
  • Alternatively or additionally, call Chime customer service at 844-244-6363 to request account closure and confirm any next steps. A representative may verify your identity and advise if further documentation is required.
  • Ensure you have switched any direct deposits or recurring payments to another account before closing Chime to prevent payment disruptions.
  • After closure, keep records of the confirmation message or email from Chime for your records. Verify that your account no longer appears active and no fees or transactions appear post-closure.

Following these steps will help you close your Chime account smoothly and avoid complications from pending transactions or linked services. If you encounter difficulties or your account was closed unexpectedly by Chime, contacting customer service promptly is critical to resolve any issues.
