How to Cancel NetFlow Analyzer

To fully uninstall the NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA) from a SolarWinds Platform deployment, follow these steps:

Before You Start

  • Backup the existing database to ensure no data is lost.
  • If your database is on a VM, create a snapshot or copy of your VM.
  • Backup product folders as they may contain customizations specific to your installation.

Remove Product Licenses

  • Log in to the SolarWinds Platform Web Console.
  • Navigate to Settings > All Settings.
  • Under Details, click License Manager.
  • In the web-based License Manager, select the NTA product license to remove.
  • Click Deactivate to remove the license activation and server assignment.

Stop All SolarWinds Platform Services

  • Log in to the SolarWinds Platform server.
  • Open the SolarWinds Platform Service Manager through Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Service Manager.
  • Click Shutdown Everything to stop all services.

Uninstall NTA

  • Open Programs and Features in the Windows Control Panel.
  • Right-click NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and select Uninstall.
  • Run the Configuration wizard that opens after the uninstallation is complete. If it does not load automatically, start it through Start > SolarWinds Orion > Configuration Wizard.
  • In the Configuration wizard, select all components and click Next. Accept the default values for your existing database and website settings. On the Service Settings panel, leave all services checked.

Delete Files and Folders

  • Delete or rename the following files or folders if they are present:
    • C:Program Files (x86)SolarWindsOrionNetFlowTrafficAnalysis
    • C:Program Files (x86)SolarWindsOrionModulesNTA

Remove NTA-related Registry Keys

  • Open a Command Prompt on the SolarWinds Platform server.
  • Type regedit and press Enter.
  • Expand Hkey_Local_Machine > Software > Wow6432Node > SolarWinds > Orion.
  • Delete the NetFlow Traffic Analyzer folder.
  • Note: Back up your Registry before making any changes.

Restart the Server

  • Restart the server to complete the uninstallation process.
