How to Cancel OASIS

To cancel an OASIS assessment, particularly in the context of home health care and clinical settings, you need to follow these steps:

Steps to Cancel an OASIS Assessment

Locate the Patient’s OASIS

  • Go to the View menu, then select List, followed by Exported OASIS.
  • Locate the patient for whom you need to cancel the OASIS assessment.

Change the Correction Code

  • Select Edit for the patient’s OASIS.
  • A popup box will appear; use the dropdown menu to change the Correction code to 00.
  • A message will appear in the top right corner indicating that the correction number has been updated.

Generate the Cancel Option

  • Select the Generate Cancel option for the patient.
  • Save the Zip file to your computer.

Submit the Canceled OASIS

  • Complete the process of submitting your canceled OASIS.
  • Once your Validation Report has been accepted, you will need to return to the patient’s OASIS.

Reopen the Assessment (If Necessary)

  • If you need to make corrections, go back to View > List > Exported OASIS, locate the patient, and select Reopen.
  • Input the reason that the OASIS was reopened.
  • Scroll down to confirm that you want to reopen the assessment.
  • The OASIS assessment will be placed in the patient’s chart for you to make your corrections and send back to QA for approval. Once approved, resubmit the OASIS as normal.

This process ensures that the OASIS assessment is properly canceled and any necessary corrections are made before resubmission.
