How to Cancel Pirate Ship
To cancel and refund a label on Pirate Ship, follow these steps:
Requesting a Refund
If you need to refund a label, you must request the refund within 28 days of purchasing the label. Here’s how you can do it:
- Navigate to your Ship page on Pirate Ship.
- Click on the label you want to refund. If the label is part of a batch, click on the batch first and then select the individual label.
- Find and click the red "Refund Label" button located at the bottom of the shipment’s page.
Refunding Multiple Labels
For batches of labels, you can either refund individual labels inside the batch or the entire batch at once.
Reasons You Might Not Be Able to Refund
There are several reasons why you may not be able to request a refund:
-
USPS or UPS Has Accepted Your Package: If the package has been scanned into the USPS or UPS network, the label is considered used and cannot be refunded.
-
Ship Date is Older Than 28 Days: If the ship date is more than 28 days in the past, the Refund Label button will not be available.
-
Return Labels: You cannot refund return labels because you are only charged if the return label is used.
Auto-Refunds
Pirate Ship automatically requests refunds for unused labels after 28 days. Here’s what you need to know:
-
USPS Labels: Unused USPS labels are refunded instantly if not printed. For printed but unused labels, USPS waits up to 28 days to verify the label hasn’t been scanned. Refunds are typically approved in around two weeks and credited to your Pirate Ship account balance.
-
UPS Labels: Refunds for UPS labels are processed much faster, usually within an hour, whether the label is printed or not. UPS prefers that you use labels as soon as possible after purchasing them. If a UPS label is auto-refunded, you should recreate the label and not use the original refunded label.
Where Refunds Go
Refunds are applied to your Pirate Ship account balance. You can view your pending refunds and refund history in the Reports section. If you want to issue the refund back to the original payment method, you can click the "Refund Credit" button underneath your Account Balance on the Reports page.
Important Notes
-
Using Refunded Labels: Avoid using refunded labels or duplicate labels, as this can cause packages to be sent to a UPS Overgoods location and become unrecoverable.
-
Recreating Old Labels: If a UPS label has been sitting unused, it is best to recreate the label and pay for a new one to avoid any issues.
