Sleek Bill is an intuitive billing software designed to simplify invoicing for businesses of all sizes. It offers customizable templates, easy tax compliance, and real-time updates, ensuring efficient collaboration across devices. With features like e-invoicing, inventory tracking, and detailed reporting, it streamlines financial management seamlessly.

How to Cancel Sleek Bill

To cancel an e-invoice using Sleek Bill, you need to follow these steps, which are aligned with the procedures on the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) and the features of Sleek Bill’s software.

Logging into the IRP Portal

  • Log in to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP) where the invoice was originally reported and registered. Use your organization’s registered ID and password credentials to access the IRP system.

Locating the E-Invoice

  • From the IRP dashboard, select the ‘Cancel e-invoice’ option.
  • Enter either the 64-bit invoice reference number (IRN) or the 49-bit acknowledgement reference number to retrieve and display the registered invoice targeted for cancellation.

Selecting the Cancellation Reason

  • Choose the correct cancellation reason from the drop-down menu, such as:
    • Order cancelled
    • Duplicate invoice
    • Data entry mistake
    • Other errors
  • Add free text remarks detailing the cancellation triggers, including any relevant information like buyer P.O. cancellation number, correct invoice number, accounting errors, or GSTIN corrections.

Submitting the Cancellation Request

  • Verify all the information entered accurately. Note that no changes are permitted post-submission.
  • Click “Submit” to initiate the cancellation process.

Saving the Cancelled Invoice Copy

  • The system will display a cancelled invoice with a “cancelled” stamp. Save a soft or hard copy of the cancelled invoice for your records.

Updating Other Systems

  • Update your connected financial accounting, billing systems, or GST returns to record the invoice cancellation. This may include creating linked credit or debit notes and modifying return documents.

Creating Corresponding Credit or Debit Notes

  • Raise a credit or debit note to nullify the financial impact of the cancelled invoice. Enable linkage tagging for cancelled IRNs where possible to help with money settlement with the buyer.

Important Rules and Time Limits

  • E-invoice cancellation requests can only be submitted on the IRP within 24 hours from the time the original invoice was registered and the IRN was generated. Beyond this 24-hour mark, you will need to create corresponding credit or debit notes with relevant declarations made manually during GST return filing.
  • Partial cancellation is not allowed; the full invoice needs to be reversed.
  • Cancelled IRNs cannot be reused or amended later.
  • Active e-waybill linkage blocks cancellation approval.

Using Sleek Bill for Automation

While the manual steps are necessary for compliance, Sleek Bill’s e-invoicing software can automate and simplify the cancellation process:

  • Sleek Bill allows for easy selection and cancellation of e-invoices or simple tax invoices.
  • The software automates the cancellation process, eliminating manual errors and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • It provides immediate access to invoices and facilitates the creation of credit or debit notes to nullify the financial impact of the cancelled invoice.
