What feature do you use most often?

What I like most about Upwork is how easy it is to find quality clients and how secure the contract system is. I use the Talent Marketplace and the proposal system the most. The workflow is clear from applying, negotiating, all the way to starting the contract. I also really appreciate the payment protection feature because it makes working feel much safer—especially for hourly projects. The dashboard is clean and easy to navigate.

What’s been frustrating in your experience?

The most frustrating part is the high competition and the rising cost of Connects. I often end up using a lot of Connects just to get one job. Plus, some clients post jobs but never reply, so those Connects go to waste.

Is there a workflow that could be simpler?

I think Upwork has room to improve the user experience by adding features like auto-refunding Connects for jobs with no hires, better client filtering (e.g., showing only high–hiring rate clients), and a simpler job application workflow with reusable proposal templates. These changes would make job hunting more efficient and reduce unnecessary costs.

Actually it's been a big surprise to me. A lot of clients are actually serious about hiring long-term relationships. The platform works really well! And I see that payments feel secure and everything being in one place makes freelancing less stressful.

What do you like best about this product?

My experience with Upwork has been very great especially as a new freelance creator. I like how the platform matches you with jobs based on your skills, managing the system, making communication with clients easy. The feature I use the most is the job search filter because it helps me to narrow down opportunities quickly.

What do you dislike about this product?

Of course some part of Upwork can feel overwhelming at first. Navigating through the website and figuring out which jobs are worth applying for because connect are used for applying and they are not entirely free. Also understanding the "Boost" system can be confusing. I wish there were clearer guidelines for new freelancers about setting competitive rate and how to make freelancers stop submitting applications to jobs or gigs that have already been taken in order to reduce waste of connect.

If you could change one thing, what would it be?

One thing I will gladly change or work on is screening Scam Job or Unavailable jobs. Some persons create account just to waste the time and connect of freelancers. The reason they do this, I do not know. Knowing which jobs to apply for is also something I would look into. But overall, it's a helpful platform for us freelancers.

Even though I'm new, I found it easy to optimize my profile and add my skills. The platform feels more professional and aims for high-quality, long-term VA jobs. The Hourly Tracker is good for payment safety.

Upwork is a great place to find many different kinds of tasks for the variety of skills that an individual might have, whether it be general or specific skills. Whether using desktop or mobile, the user interface is smooth, and the application feels safe to use while being connected to many clients around the world.

There are times that positions fill very quickly, sometimes within the hour, so being glued to the application often happens with little reward for certain positions. The Plus membership is quite expensive, and buying connects can be expensive, especially when applying for lower-paying jobs.

How could the product save you more time or money?

Having Upwork recommend jobs that are more in line with my qualifications could really help save time on the app. For example, Upwork should not recommend a job that looks for males over 65+ when I am a young female.

I’ve used Upwork for years to get projects done at far better prices than I could ever find in NYC. The platform makes it easy to connect with talented professionals all over the world, and their dispute process is fair and responsive — which gives you real peace of mind as a client.

Recently, I’ve started using Upwork from the freelancer side, and it’s definitely a different experience. While there are lots of opportunities, you do have to pay to bid on jobs, which can add up. It’s still a solid platform overall, but it feels more geared toward clients than freelancers.

How has it made your work/life easier?

Upwork gives me flexibility with being able to earn, work and complete tasks in my own time. So work and life are slightly easier to balance

Upwork is not scam proof and sometimes the contracts are not what they appear to be so use caution.

Using Upwork helped me make a little bit of money with potential to make even more money and using Upwork can become a profitable career if used wisely and consistently. I wish they could somehow make Upwork scam proof one day.

I put in a nine for my recommendation score because although Upwork is a good place to make a good amount of income for freelance work and can become a full-time career, it's not perfect in terms of scams and misleading contract descriptions. Upwork is a legitimate freelancing web app to make money but use caution and good judgement.

What do you like best about this product?

I like using Upwork because it is extremely flexible and allows me to find freelance work on my own terms. I am currently a part-time freelancer, and I like that I am able to submit proposals and find work when I have gaps in my schedule. Upwork is extremely easy to use, there are many jobs from all over the world to bid on, and I have found some extremely rewarding projects to work on.

What do you dislike about this product?

I wish there was a feature to hide a particular job from your feed after you've looked at it and determined that it is not a good fit for you and not affect the algorithm. There may be jobs that are in a good category for me, but because of the time commitment or pay I am not interested in that. The down thumbs up that is there currently makes you choose a reason and it doesn't totally hide the job, it just collapses it.

What new feature would you love to see added?

I would love to see them add in filter options on the main feed. For example, I would love to be able to filter out jobs that don't pay the minimum hourly rate that I am willing to work for.

What do you like best about this product?

So easy to navigate and the search function is superb. Upwork provides lot of real jobs for freelancers. The filter function is efficient. No downtime at all too since I signed up and they gave monthly connects.

What do you dislike about this product?

There are still lot of fake job posts but good thing that users have option to report.

Auto detection of fake job posts and should not be posted publicly until the poster provide details why it is not a scam.
